International Orchestra Institute Attergau 2019

1 to 11 August 2019, St. Georgen im Attergau (Austria)

We are proud to present Thomas Hengelbrock, who is one of today's most prolific interpreters of the repertoire of the first viennese school, as conductor of the International Orchestra Institute Attergau 2019.

Together with a substantial team of tutors from the ranks of the Vienna Philharmonic he will prepare pieces by Mozart, Beethoven, Wagner and Mendelssohn.

The soloists in Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto will be Volkhard Steude, concertmaster of the Vienna Philharmonic, and Benjamin Schmid, one of the top violinists of his generation. The latter will also introduce himself as conductor.

As every year, the supporting programme will include masterclasses with members of the Vienna Philharmonic, various excursions around St. Georgen and lake 'Attersee', and the traditional visit to the Salzburg Festival, attending a rehearsal of the Vienna Philharmonic.
